DJI Mavic Pro Nisi Mavic Filter ND 64 .5 second exposure Full image at http://www.flickr.com/photos/brusca/ Local fisherman on the coast of South Sumatra chance their luck on a rocky outcrop during morning fishing. When you have been patiently awaiting the weather to turn for 3 days and the final morning the clouds are still not lifting and the light is still not breaking through, the thought process and creativity has to switch gears. I had gotten a few shots of Wayhawang Beach over the last few days with some nice long exposures under trying conditions and on my final morning […]

As always for the full image visit my website at the link above. For anyone wanting to use my images please contact me first. Such a beautiful location of a somewhat untouched paradise under a towering waterfall, but surreal in a sense that this little paradise is surrounded by 100's of square kilometers of oil palm plantations. This is a good example of getting lucky but to be honest it is not the best photo I could have captured from this location and I will surely go back on my own time and get the right image. I love it when the rice fields are in their way to being ready to harvest. In the afternoon light in the midst of the dry season the rice fields are a joy to photograph from the air or the ground.

Driving along the south west coast of Sumatra between the Seblat Elephant Conservation Center and Bengkulu city, I have done countless times, but only just recently I caught a glimpse of something through the trees scattered along the coast and suddenly I was transported back to the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, in my trusty hi-ace camper-van scouting Australia for some great landscapes. I had to do a double take and for sure there it was, Sumatra’s own Apostle. I made a mental note to come back as soon as possible as I wasn’t travelling alone at the time. So […]
Starting in 2011 I took a 5 month journey through Australia and at the end of that 5 months took a 3 week break that ended up being a life changing sliding door for me. Fast forward two and a half years and now I find myself in Sumatra working on and donating my time to the worthy cause of endangered animals and humanitarian issues around Sumatra. I still have a mountain of unedited photos and videos from my time through Australia and I have managed to edit 6 more in recent weeks. I will continue the journey one day […]
