Sumatra BW Portrait – Travel

I love getting out and about capturing the people and the culture on a single frame. It can say a lot and even tell a whole story if you capture it right. The deep trance and the weary face tell of a life of hardship in the villages of Sumatra. The daily grind of managing crops and surviving through market sales is evident in this portrait. I chose to produce the black and white of this image as the tonal range seemed to suit and it complimented the story I was trying to tell.
