Niche Challenge – The Revenue Strategy

For all posts relating to this Niche Challenge

Sorry for not updating you earlier. I have been on the road and also had a lot of requests from clients that have taken priority, that’s just the way that it goes. Needless to say on my photography trip I did take a time lapse of the sun setting over the 12 Apostles, which I will be sure to add to www.timelapsehq.com in the coming week.

The Keywords and Ranking
I had been watching my keywords right up until the moment I walked out the door to go on my trip. I have actually been ranking really well considering it has only been 2 weeks. Here is a screen shot. I am on the first page for Nikon Time Lapse and was up there too for Canon Time Lapse until tonight. Hopefully temporary glitch.

The Traffic
So far and as expected the traffic has been light, i have added a screen shot of the recent analytics. On top of ranking for specific keywords i am experimenting with other forms of gaining traffic. One of those involves making connections. I am a huge advocate for social networks and highly recommend Twitter and Facebook for making connections, which in turn translates to traffic. One of my tools I use to help automate the process of connecting on Twitter is called Tweetadder. This tool allows you to find like minded people to connect with and just as importantly finding people currently discussing your specific niche. I have included a screen shot of the Tweetadder process below. It’s very good, allowing you to automate almost every part of your Twitter account while still adding and responding to tweets to keep it personal.

The long tail money making
Let me state for the record that this won’t be a quick money making venture at all. I’m in this for the long haul, photography in most mediums is a passion of mine and I hope to continue to provide a helpful service for all lovers of time-lapse photography.
To start off with I have placed in Google Adwords advertisements and Commission Junction Ads , for the most part on the right hand side bar, but I will also place ads inside most posts. That will be my initial strategy for making some dollars, other strategies will come in to effect as the traffic grows.

Well that’s it for this post, I look forward to talking more about my upcoming content, some video footage and starting an iTunes podcast. Stay tuned.
