Exploring Asia

For years now I have dreamt of being based in Asia and having this vast area rich in beauty and in culture to explore at my fingertips. It’s been a long hard road over the last three years and it’s finally a reality with now being based in Indonesia. I have spent the last two years truly focusing on Indonesia and specifically Sumatra and the plight of the elephants of Sumatra. But now this year in 2015 it is time to expand to see and experience and capture the beauty of Asia. This of course is not a small or short task to undertake but it is the first step to get started. Thankfully this is being truly helped with efforts of asian airlines, specifically Air Asia and the new ASEAN pass, creating a window of opportunity to really explore asia at an incredible low price. I won’t go into the details of the ASEAN pass and you can read all about it on www.airasia.com.

The feelings first and foremost are excitement at the potential of what lays ahead but but at the same time require patience and the right information to capture the aspects of Asia in the right place at the right time. I’m looking forward to coordinating with local fixers and or individual guides throughout the countries of Asia and getting a good insight into local cultures and exploring the vast landscapes that abound the ASEAN countries.

I’ll be focusing on the Philippines first and then looking forward to seeing what Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and Malysia have to offer this year. I am convinced that these and many other destinations around Asia will require multiple visits so I can see this being an odyssey a few years in the making to capture the magic of the region. To be continued…
