Seven Days With – Illegal Logging

I’m in the process of working through the logistics of Seven Days With and have received a heartfelt letter form a group of villagers in the heart of the illegal logging fight in the Cardamom Mountains.

This is a letter provided to me by a contact who is close to the illegal logging fight in the Cardamom Mountains in Cambodia. This letter is from a group of villagers fighting to save the forests and save their livelihoods at the same time. This is a cry for attention from these villagers and when you read through you will understand that this issue needs all the attention it can get.

Some Macro Goodness

I’ve been experimenting with the Nikkor 105mm Macro lens. From Hornets in Cambodia to grasshoppers in Australia, this lens is simply amazing. All of these shots are off tripod so I’ll also have to experiment with the tripod and proper lighting. That should amount to an event better result.

Cambodia is Rich!!

With photography subjects that is. Unfortunately on an economic level the country is really poor. Recently I traveled throughout Cambodia for 3 weeks and I experienced various aspects of provinces from the city of Phnom Penh to the jungle rich province of Pursat in the south west to Angkor Wat in the north west. Two of those weeks we spent shacked up in a small guest house in a very small village called Ou Saom in the Cambodian jungle.

Senseless Destruction

It makes me sick to think that a company can come into a neighboring country and cause such devastation to a remote wilderness area and not even once consider any environmental impact that this might have.
