After reaching my goal of Lake Mungo I had no other immediate plans so I decided to head south towards Melbourne and visit some of the historical towns on the way. One town, well it’s really a city, is Bendigo. Lots of history surrounding Bendigo so I found some free camp sites on the outskirts and spent a few days exploring the city and found some beautiful places/buildings to photograph while there.

I enjoyed what Bendigo had to offer. I rode the old tram line to the old gold mine of yesteryear but didn’t enter as the price was a little steep. I explored the streets and spent a great deal of time working in the library on my Australia timelapse film.

I found the people to be friendly and even felt confident enough to do some night photography on my own. Bendigo really has some amazing buildings. The Sacred Hearts cathedral just stands tall and proud above all else and is simply a marvel in architecture. I took a timelapse shot of the outside of the building and explored and photographed the incredible architecture on the inside. I also found the Bendigo War memorial a great building to photograph. It was a stormy day so I managed to snap quite a dramatic photo of the war memorial, which is a little bit fitting of the battles fought and the lives lost to protect this country.

After a few days exploring and catching up on some work I left the Bendigo and headed further south towards Melbourne passing through quite a few other small historical towns on the way. The rural areas surrounding Bendigo and further south are beautiful and I just loved photographing the historical buildings.
